Nigel Bakhai, local Liberal Democrat campaigner and candidate in the forthcoming by-election for Ealing Southall, has called on the Labour government and Conservative Ealing Council to support a Tamil school based in the constituency.

Mr Bakhai - a long-standing supporter of the school - was speaking after visiting the school to present prizes to the children.

Nigel Bakhai said:

"Tamils represent a growing part of our local community. This school is a great asset to them.

"But without adequate funding from the Labour government and the Tory Council, it faces an uncertain future.

"I want to see investment in initiatives such as this which improve the lives of so many in our area."

Note: The Tamil school runs on Saturdays at the North Road Primary School. It runs classes to teach Tamil children and young people the Tamil language, culture and customs. Over 250 Tamil children and parents from across the Ealing area attended the prize giving.
